Goals

Big Dreams

One of the saddest things in the world is a good, never published novel.

Even sadder -- not writing the novel for fear of that sadness.

I'm not speaking from personal experience here.  Luckily.  Although someday, I may spend the time to write a novel, which may or may not sit in a drawer, or on my computer.

But this morning I was thinking about a friend who wrote a novel -- a good novel -- 15 years ago.  It still unpublished and almost certainly will never be published.

Clarity Of Your Goals

If you are overwhelmed about the number of things that are on your 'plate' that you feel compelled to accomplish, then start by reviewing your goals.

If you start your day by reviewing your goals, it will create clarity and focus in your mind.  It will help you to eliminate things that are not aligned to what you really want.

Whilst reviewing your goals, ensure that you have allocated some energy towards giving --  to your family, to a cause and to yourself.

Too Much Clutter

Most people go about their day with too much clutter in their mind.  This creates scattered energy.

If only they spent a few minutes reviewing and reflecting on their personal and professional goals each morning before starting their day; and each evening as they close the day, this ritual would remove a lot of unnecessary stuff that bothers them every day.

Making Right Decisions

If you are unsure how to make an important decision then ask yourself the following 7 questions:

Do you know what your goal is in life?

An acorn has a goal – to become a tree.

An artist – to create.

A comic – to inspire laughter.

What is your goal?  Or as the character in the famous Monty Python scene says, “What's your purpose”?

Whether you are clear on purpose or not, giving is, and will be, an integral part of achieving your life's purpose.

Every happy and successful person we know says that giving is an essential part of who they are, and of their success in life.

When you have clarity of purpose which is anchored in giving not only does the Universe conspire to help you with your purpose; it also helps you be aware of it thus being able to take advantage.

How about you?

Do you have clarity of purpose which is anchored in giving?

Giving Of Yourself

This past Sunday, I was helping my 13 year old son Tawfiq with setting short term goals.  We were doing this over dinner at one of his favorite restaurant’s “Nandos”.

As he was enjoying his chicken and spicy fries, I was writing down what he would like to accomplish in the next 3 months.

These were his goals for the period September 22 to December 31, 2008:

SOCCER:

  • Score 5 goals
  • Win two thirds of their games
  • As the youngest player in the school team, to make a great impact on the team
