A Different Kind of Birthday

Harvey's picture

I don't know if you've noticed a new trend in birthdays, but this is the second similar e-mail I have received from a dear friend in the last month.

I pass it on to you because you might want to consider this yourself. And I'm giving you Shirley's e-mail address in case you want to participate in giving a gift of yourself to someone you don't know.

Read on, and I think you'll be impressed by the concept.

Hi everyone,

Some of you know me well - some hardly at all, but that doesn't matter!

Next month I am turning 55, which for me is a milestone and for many just another year!

Instead of my usual Leo tendency to organize a celebration of some sort I am asking all of you to bring me closer to you!

Friendship and family is important to me and I would like to capture a piece of what life means to you, what inspires you, gives you hope, makes you feel fulfilled - as my 55th celebration!

You can do this in many ways:

  • make a donation to your favorite charity  - and let me know!
  • send me your favorite quote, poem, picture, recipe, concept or idea or share your favorite story or tale!
  • cook a meal and share it with your friends - include me only if you like or tell me how wonderful it was!
  • do something you always wanted to do but were afraid to - and let me know!

Appreciate all that you have, and remember what matters the most!

Thanks for being my friend as I approach my 55th year!

Love,
Shirley
